Who am I?

Abhimanyu Dasgupta. This name was the brainwork of my Grandmother. Quite honestly, from the day I was old enough, conscious enough, for my name to make a difference, I did not quite like it. But even more honestly, growing up each day, I am adding a certain amount of admiration to it. My own respect for my own name. That was all a part of growing I guess. “Aby”, “Avi” seemed cooler! But hey, none of them can match up to who I really am. Abhimanyu Dasgupta. That’s who I am!

This whole, “Who am I?” thing, I don’t think I am capable enough to reach a conclusion. I will let someone else take over from here. Someone who has lots to tell. Is quite a lot more expressive than me. A PART OF ME NOT QUITE IDENTIFIED TO EXIST.

Well, that was not the answer completely. Abhimanyu Dasgupta is a lot more complex to be understood in a few sentences. Quite an uphill task. I don’t mind giving it a try though. Please tell me if I was successful enough. Or failed drastically. I know both have equal chances. That I know for sure, because in every person’s life there has to be a group of people who would recognize that person differently from what he/she in reality is. Positive or Negative. If u are up against this statement, you are probably not mature enough to realise this fact yet. Or you did not care as yet.

Born in a small town then, Guwahati, Abhimanyu had spent the most wonderful days of his life there. No matter, what the future holds, but for him that ingredient of “growing up” and “school days” in the recipe of his LIFE will always be regarded as the actual tastemaker. The rest are necessary but just complimentary! But just like all good things has to come an end, so as to comprehend how good it was, Abhimanyu had to leave Guwahati after Class 10. But as they put it: “Don’t cry that it is over. Smile that it happened.” That brought him to “The city of Joy” or so they say. New School. New faces. And even more significantly new place to stay. And that was not even called home. It was called “Paying-Guest”. Little did he know that this word will stick with him for quite a long time in the future. Well Kolkata was quite a ride! And it got over even before he could realise it. But then, it was the most amazing trip one could possibly have. And he still retains some of the souvenirs he had found there. Some very promising and marvellous souvenirs! Then Pune. He says: “I can go on and on about Pune, or i could just sum it up in one sentence.. May Heaven be like this!” So, we can well figure out how his stay there is. He loves every moment of his stay there. Thanks to a lot of incredible people around. Stays at the other part of the country, far away from home. “Paying-Guest” yet again. And, well, studies Law....

All this background was necessary. If u are thinking, “Why to go over such unnecessary details?” READ ON... Don’t forget, we are looking for a more decisive answer to the question, “Who is Abhimanyu Dasgupta?”

You see, Abhimanyu’s life has been divided into some stages. That defines him. These stages were not pre decided, nor could he see it coming. It just happened. And very peculiarly, each resident place of his is a new stage. Maybe it has something to do with the change of terra firma, but I am not quite sure. And quite surely it can’t be entirely fanatical to it..

STAGE 1- Guwahati

· Starts to listen to voices within, rather than the ones which are falling into his ears.

· Starts to prioritise “ME”. Wants and Demands.

· Total REBEL to anything possible.

· Friends before Family.

· Chooses Fun at the cost of everything else.

· Very popular among innumerable friends, but not up to the expectations of Parents.

· No dreams.

Stage 2- Kolkata

· Starts seeing the other side of his deeds.

· Becomes a little responsible and puts a check to his actions.

· Understands the importance of the family bonds, and deeply regrets past.

· Understands the ways of the world and tries to accept it.

· Lesser friends but amazing rapport with them.

· Nevertheless, Fun, but not at the cost of everything else.

· Dreams, but subjected to conditions.

Stage 3- Pune

· Totally responsible for each and every action.

· Questions the ways of life, and sets up own standards. But not being a rebel.

· Understands, if there is anyone selflessly truly yours it is FAMILY.

· Fun, oh yes!

· Dreams.

· Working hard and prioritising ME, yet again, but this time,”WANTS AND DEMANDS” are to fulfil the dreams.

What you have just read is a transformation of a BOY to a MAN. From the look of it, u might say that, it is a very normal and ordinary story. Let me make one thing very clear. Abhimanyu Dasgupta is an ORDINARY guy... He had this convenience of explaining his changes in stages according to his terrain. But the reality is, a boy does change to a man always... There is no exception to this rule. Not necessarily like how Abhimanyu transformed but in their own ways.

However, there is no huge exception to him, that him being remarkably distinctive. He is comfortably different. He is different to the point that it is bound to. He has his own description. The ones that make him what he is.

So, there folks, that is Abhimanyu Dasgupta for you!
